This is completely normal. Since we're in beta, the installer isn't code-signed yet. Windows SmartScreen will show a "Windows protected your PC" warning when you run the installer.
You'll see this screen:
"Windows protected your PC — Microsoft Defender SmartScreen prevented an unrecognized app from starting..."
Here's what the Windows SmartScreen warning looks like:
Step 1: Initial warning
Windows protected your PC
Microsoft Defender SmartScreen prevented an unrecognized app from starting. Running this app might put your PC at risk.
Click the highlighted "More info" link
Step 2: After clicking "More info"
Windows protected your PC
Microsoft Defender SmartScreen prevented an unrecognized app from starting. Running this app might put your PC at risk.

Why isn't it signed? We're currently in the process of getting our code signing certificate. We're waiting for our business listing verification and certificate shipment. Until then, this warning is expected for all new/unsigned software. The app is safe—you can verify the download comes directly from our official releases.
Click the download button above. The file downloads directly from our official GitHub releases.
When you run GlacierLens.Nidra.Setup.exe, Windows SmartScreen will show a warning.
Click "More info" → "Run anyway" to proceed. macOS and Linux users can skip this step.
Follow the installer prompts. You can choose your installation folder and whether to create desktop shortcuts. The app will launch automatically when installation completes.
Yes! The SmartScreen warning appears because the installer isn't code-signed, not because it's unsafe. Nidra is built with Electron and modern web technologies. All downloads come from our official GitHub releases. You can verify the download integrity if you want extra assurance.
We're actively working on it! We've applied for our code signing certificate and are currently waiting for our business listing verification and certificate shipment. Once the certificate arrives and is installed, the SmartScreen warning will disappear for all future releases.
Nidra is privacy-first. All your data stays on your machine. We use anonymous analytics to understand feature usage, but we never collect your API endpoints, request data, or credentials. The app requires an internet connection every 14 days to verify your license, but otherwise works offline. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
